Web Design for Diverse Display Sizes

The use of mobile devices to browse the web is a phenomenal development that has largely changed the concept of web design. Conventionally, mobile devices have limited display size and as such, a different web design approach is necessary in order to disposition the content on the respective screens. As a matter of fact, experts emphasize that in the modern times, it is the responsibility of any web designer to ensure that the websites they design are optimized diverse mobile devices.  Here are some thoughts from that you need to know before designing your next website.

It is interesting how the world has changed in terms of technology. Things that were inconceivable 20 yrs. ago are the new reality of today. Phones, game consoles, "PHABLET", tablets, computers, TVs and other connected accessories today present different screen sizes, all of which are intended to allow web access. Consequently, web design must take into consideration all these devices if the designed websites are to be accessed by all irrespective of the devices that they own.

However, it must be acknowledged that in this field, change is the norm. It is therefore important that your website can adapt to all formats, either today or tomorrow. Designing adaptive websites, is a concept originally defined by Ethan Marcotte in 'A List Apart'. This concept meets the needs of users and devices they use. The arrangement changes depending on the size and functionality of the device. On a phone, for example, the content will be displayed in a single column, then it will appear in two columns on a tablet and be fully displayed when a PC is in use.

In general, it a reality that the range of devices through which websites can be accessed will expand more and more in the near future. Web design must respond to this need by factoring in the same in their design. It is only through this that web designers can keep pace with the fast moving technology.
